Much of what we know about ancient weapons comes from objects found on archaeological sites. But some materials survive better than others, so we have to use pictures on wall reliefs and descriptions in texts to get a more complete idea of what ancient weapons looked like.

Imagine you are an archaeologist who has found a battle site. There are many finds in the area, which you must match with the line drawings provided.

Think about what is missing and what would or would not survive.
